Where to Begin?

For R-E Class licenses - ie, your first motorcycle license

First and foremost, obtaining a learner's permit from the Western Australian Department of Transport (formerly known as the Department of Planning and Infrastructure) is a mandatory prerequisite before embarking on motorcycle training and instruction in Perth, including Joondalup and the surrounding areas. This process entails a visit to one of the licensing centers in your vicinity and the completion of a theory test. The theory test comprises two aspects, general theory and questions specifically relating to motorcycles. For more detailed information, please refer to the Department of Transport Website through this link.

If you'd like to get a sense of what the test entails, you may consider trying out the sample quizzes provided: Quiz A, Quiz B, and Quiz C.

(For individuals already in possession of an R-E class license, motorcycle training and instruction on motorcycles exceeding the LAMS category (Open Class) are permissible. However, the assessment can only be undertaken after holding the R-E class license for a minimum of 2 years.)

If you've completed your training or are ready to schedule your assessment, you can now conveniently book online using the Department of Training Online Booking System via your Dot Direct account. Alternatively, check the links page for contact phone numbers.

Learning the Ropes

Upon successful completion of your learner's theory test and obtaining a learner's permit, you can commence your motorbike training in Perth. Instruction and motorcycle training can be provided by either a certified riding instructor or an individual who has held the same class of license or a higher one for a minimum duration of 4 years (2 years for an R-N license).

We offer individualized motorbike training and instruction for all classes of motorcycles with a strong emphasis on SAFETY and COMPLIANCE. Our goal is to ensure that you are taught the proper way to ride your motorcycle and navigate the roads while remaining vigilant of the potential risks and hazards in your surroundings. To facilitate this, we utilize intercom systems attached to your helmet, allowing your instructor to provide immediate guidance, instructions, and corrections while you ride. It also enables you to ask questions as you progress.
